hi, i'm kara!
i’m a ux designer passionate about creating user-centered experiences that bring joy, clarity, and ease to people’s lives.
My journey into UX design was inspired by my time coaching Special Olympics and serving as Editor-in-Chief of a magazine. These experiences taught me the importance of empathy, communication, and designing solutions that meet diverse needs—values I carry into every project.
Currently, I’m a junior at Purdue University studying UX Design, where I focus on crafting intuitive, user-friendly experiences through research, prototyping, and interaction design. I’m also exploring Psychology and Collaborative Leadership to better understand people and develop strong teamwork skills. My goal is to become a leader in design, using my skills to create meaningful, impactful solutions that make a difference for users and communities.

I’m usually off on some kind of adventure. Whether it’s racing across sand dunes or discovering a new place, I love trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone. These experiences keep me inspired and bring fresh perspectives to my work.

my philosophy
My design process is like stacking building blocks—each step builds on the last, creating something stronger and more refined. I start with empathy, the first block, where I focus on truly understanding the user’s needs and the project’s context. From there, I define key insights that guide the next block of creative ideas. As I move into brainstorming and prototyping, I keep testing and gathering feedback, adjusting the design as I go. Sometimes I go back to earlier blocks to make sure everything fits together just right. This approach helps me build adaptable, user-centered solutions that come together to create a design that truly works for people.

At the heart of my design philosophy is the belief that every step, no matter how small, contributes to creating something meaningful. Design is not just about solving problems. It’s about making connections, inspiring change, and creating experiences that truly matter to people.
